Wheatley Plastics is moving to a larger site

Wheatley Plastics will be relocating after sixty successful years at its current manufacturing site. Due to customer demand, it has become necessary to move into a larger and more modern production facility.

Office Manager Linda Parker said: “Unlike the mill site, where equipment was spread over three narrow floors, the new Hazel Grove facility can fit all the machinery on one floor, with room to add extra capacity when required.

“Some staff members have been working here for more than 20 years and got very attached to the mill. It will be tough to walk out on so much of the company’s heritage. But ultimately, we will be moving to much nicer premises, with better working conditions and the space that is necessary to meet rising demand.”

The new site is based on Newby Road Industrial Estate, which Wheatley Plastics will share with forward-thinking companies including Music Magpie.

Wheatley Plastics has invested over £300K in fitting out the site with a modern infrastructure which will impact on reducing all non-value added activities throughout the manufacturing process.

Managing Director Gary Knight said: “At a little over 20,000 square feet, the new production facility is more than twice the size of our current mill site. This extra room will help us accommodate the extra demand from our customers, which is growing every day.

It has always been our vision to create a world class manufacturing environment for our customers, suppliers and employees. This is a major step forward in achieving our goals.”

From 23 October 2017, Wheatley Plastics’ new address will be:

17a Newby Road Industrial Estate,

Newby Road,

Hazel Grove,

SK7 5DD.

Phone: 0161 477 2800 (Unchanged)
