BPF Manifesto Calls for Greater Recognition of the Industry

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) has published its latest election manifesto, calling for greater recognition for the plastics industry in the UK. The manifesto also calls for an increased focus on the plastic packaging and recycling sectors, as well as requesting more support to see the UK plastics industry garner more financial support.

The manifesto requests the UK Government to refer to the plastics sector as a “foundation industry”, indicating its importance to both the manufacturing and construction industries. The call for greater investment in recycling capabilities would see the plastics sector able to go from strength to strength, and it could be funded through the Plastics Packaging Tax.

A key part of the manifesto was also the focus on helping small business meet industry-wide reducing carbon footprint goals. The BPF has called for this in the form of grants, to help these businesses purchase more energy- efficient machinery.
