A pair of new hires has helped reinforce Wheatley Plastics manufacturing operation after a period of extended growth and a series of new client wins.

New production manager Gary Holt, 31, , and Lead Process Technician Adam Chamberlain, 41, join the Stockport-based injection moulding company after it experienced 35% growth over a period of 18 months.

Despite recent uncertainty, the contract manufacturer has secured new clients in emerging markets that will generate an additional £600,000 in revenue from 2021. Wheatley Plastics has also assisted in the fight against coronavirus by working with a leading OEM, producing essential parts for life-saving respirator applications, worn by frontline health workers.

Prior to joining Wheatley Plastics, Gary and Adam enjoyed long and distinguished careers at a large plastic injection moulding company based in the North West.

Wheatley Plastics Managing Director Gary Knight said: “They bring a wealth of skills and experience and are the perfect candidates to help us achieve our vision of becoming a world class contract manufacturer.”

The pair joined the Hazel Grove manufacturing site in early March and, while other companies have shut up shop, they stayed on to continue serving customers during lockdown.

Transferring skills and boosting productivity

Production Manager Gary Holt said: “My mandate is to boost productivity, reduce waste and pass on my skills and knowledge to the production team here at Wheatley Plastics.

Lead Process Technician Adam Chamberlain said: “My role is very much centred on making sure processes run as smoothly as possible. I’m responsible for validating new tooling and implementing new automation to boost efficiency.

“Now is a particularly exciting time for the company as their growth has been supported by investments in new technology and equipment, particularly in new ultrasonic welding capability, as well as new robots and automation.”
